Training Modalities:

Our trainings are deep explorations of the human experience, birthing new perspectives on mental wellbeing that meet human beings at this moment in time.

Aura Level 1: Foundational Trauma Tools

Our level 1 training focuses on embodiment and establishing a felt, intuitive sense of the nervous system. You graduate as a Certified Integrative Trauma Coach (ITC™).

Aura Level 2: Advanced Therapies

In our level-2 training, you’ll choose 3 of the modules below to become a Certified Integrative Trauma Pracitioner (ITP™).

About The Modules:

Level 1:

Foundational Somatics

Our Foundational Somatic Trauma Therapy Training offers a comprehensive introduction to the principles and practices of somatic therapy, a therapeutic approach that emphasizes the connection between the mind and body in healing from trauma. This body-oriented therapy focuses on the physical sensations and movements that are integral to our experience of trauma, recognizing that traumatic memories are often stored in the body. Through a blend of theoretical learning and practical application, participants will explore how to facilitate the release of stored trauma, enhance bodily awareness, and support the integration of traumatic experiences in a safe and regulated manner.

Mindfulness-Based Stress Relief (MBSR)

Our Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) Training Program is meticulously designed to introduce the core principles and practices of MBSR, a pioneering, evidence-based form of mindfulness training developed by Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn. This program emphasizes the cultivation of mindfulness - the art of paying attention in a particular way: on purpose, in the present moment, and nonjudgmentally. It is particularly beneficial for managing stress, anxiety, depression, and pain.

Level 2:

Intermediate Somatics

Building on the foundational principles established in our Foundational Somatic Trauma Therapy Training, we are excited to offer an Intermediate Somatics Training Program, specifically designed for professionals who wish to deepen their practice and understanding of somatic approaches to trauma healing. This next-level training emphasizes practical application, case studies, and the development of leadership skills in facilitating somatic therapy sessions.

Throughout this advanced course, participants will delve into complex trauma dynamics, exploring how to apply somatic techniques more effectively within therapeutic contexts.

Bio-Dynamic Breathwork

This module offers mental health practitioners an in-depth exploration into the therapeutic use of breathwork techniques for supporting trauma recovery. This module is designed to enrich the therapeutic toolbox of psychologists, therapists, counselors, and other mental health professionals by demonstrating how controlled breathing can significantly impact the body's physiological and emotional response to trauma.

Participants will learn the principles behind breathwork, including its roots in ancient practices and its modern application in clinical settings. The training emphasizes the physiological mechanisms of breathwork, illustrating how it can help regulate the nervous system, reduce stress responses, and facilitate emotional release and healing.

Inner Family Systems

Our professional training module on "Inner Family Systems (IFS) in Trauma Recovery" introduces mental health practitioners to the transformative power of IFS therapy, a cutting-edge, evidence-based model designed for healing psychological trauma. This module is meticulously crafted to guide therapists, psychologists, counselors, and social workers through the foundational concepts of IFS, emphasizing its application in trauma therapy.

IFS therapy posits that the mind is composed of multiple sub-personalities or "parts," each with its unique viewpoints and qualities. Trauma can cause these parts to become extreme or wounded, leading to psychological distress. Through this training, participants will learn how to help clients access and understand these parts, fostering self-compassion and promoting internal healing and harmony.

Integrative EMDR

Our "Integrative EMDR for Trauma Recovery" training module offers mental health practitioners an advanced exploration into a holistic and body-based adaptation of Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy. This innovative approach combines the traditional EMDR protocol with integrative techniques that emphasize the body's role in trauma recovery, creating a more comprehensive treatment model for psychological trauma. Participants will receive hands-on training in Integrative EMDR techniques, including how to conduct sessions that incorporate somatic experiencing, mindful awareness, and trauma-informed yoga practices. Through lectures, case studies, and practical exercises, attendees will learn to apply these integrative methods in their therapeutic work, enhancing their ability to support clients in achieving comprehensive trauma resolution and emotional well-being. *This module requires a mental health license to participate.

Body Trauma Liberation (BTL)

Body Trauma Liberation™ is a proprietary trauma-healing modality developed by the Co-Founder of The Aura Institute, Briana Waddell. Body Trauma Liberation™ is an innovative approach transcending conventional therapeutic methods. BTL™ integrates cutting-edge neuroscience with somatic healing to provide a sustainable somatic bottom-up approach that aims to liberate individuals from the imprints of trauma and emotional or behavioral patterns. Practitioners will learn to guide a 45-minute BTL™ session from start to finish.

Sexual Trauma Healing

This module provides a deep dive into the psychological impact of sexual trauma, offering evidence-based strategies and therapeutic interventions tailored to support survivors. Through a compassionate, trauma-informed approach, participants will learn the nuances of building trust, fostering safety, and facilitating healing in clients who have experienced sexual trauma. The curriculum includes the latest research on trauma-informed care, practical techniques for addressing the unique challenges of sexual trauma recovery, and ways to empower clients towards resilience and reclaiming their bodies. Interactive workshops, case studies, and role-play exercises ensure that practitioners leave with the confidence and skills to make a profound difference in the lives of those healing from sexual trauma. *This module requires a mental health license to participate.

Approved For Continuing Education.

Our Level 1 training is accredited for 40 hours of continuing education with the American Psychological Association, Board of Behavioral Sciences, the California Board of Nurses and Yoga Alliance.

Snapshot:

Do you want to add trauma-focused practices to your work with clients? Do you want to help transform lives at the deepest level?

This training was created in response to the overly-intellectualized, academic approaches to mental health. Our unique, body-centric approach trains you to transform trauma in the most profound sense, addressing its roots in the body.

You’ll learn to navigate the deep crevices of the unconscious mind and develop gentle, somatic approaches to transforming trauma into liberated consciousness.

All work in trauma healing must rest on the foundation of a regulated nervous system. As you attune your own nervous system, your others will feel calm and trusting in your presence. This is what allows you to develop deep, trusting relationships with your clients and why nervous system regulation is a foundational component of this training. Our instructors will gradually help you unwind your body and mind, entering a new reality where you feel consistently calm, trusting, and liberated. From this regulated space, you’ll begin to feel your own intuitive skills emerge.

“Trauma” and “Somatics” have become popular buzzwords. What separates professional somatic practitioners from generalists is an individualized approach that honors the delicacy of complex trauma. On this training, you’ll learn to navigate the intricate world of the subtle body and how to utilize specific approaches that target the various forms of trauma.
