About Adam:

Adam is a yogi and wellbeing entrepreneur. He is the founder of East+West, the largest yoga teacher training school in the world, and Wisdom, a venture-backed company which guides women in reversing health issues naturally.

I grew up in Chicago where I played a lot of basketball and ate lots of McDonalds double cheeseburgers. Everything about my upbringing was “normal,” except at a young age I had a burning desire to be around monks and spiritual people. I’ve had many close relationships with profound spiritual teachers in my life,  including a Tibetan Llama, a Vedic Monk, a Sikh mystic, and an Ayurvedic master. I feel all of them— and their lineage of teachers — inside me every day, like rivers flowing through me. Most of who I am today feels like an extension of them, with a few delightful curveballs :)

In college, while my friends were doing beer bongs at frat parties, I was sitting in meditation staring at a wall at the only Zen meditation center in Central Illinois.

In June of 2017, the company I co-founded in Los Angeles called WeRecover raised a $2.7 million dollar round of venture funding. Literally the night we signed the contract, while at my parent’s place in Palm Springs in deep meditation, I heard a clear, resounding voice to start organizing yoga trainings in Bali, and call it East+West. It was strange for two reasons:

1. I didn’t like the name (the voice was very clear that the “+” needing to be in there.)

2. My business WeRecover had just raised $2.7 million of venture funding, and I didn’t have a lot of spare time on my hands.

But I’m not one to question source…

Two weeks later, my co-founders conspired to remove me from my role in a maneuver to take my stock back from me. I lost over $1m dollars that day. It was sort of like the Facebook story, but less dramatic. Despite feeling some degree of anger and loss, I also observed in those moments how it felt right in my body.

A few months later, at age 26, I decided to pursue my pipe dream, move to Bali, and start a yoga training school. East+West is now the largest yoga teacher training school in the world.  We bring master Indian yoga teachers together with professional western teachers at luxury resorts in Bali and Costa Rica. Every month 40 new students go on the most meaningful experience of their lives, discovering how to live happier, healthier, and more connected to life. I don’t know of anything more transformative and downright meaningful than our trainings at East+West. 

During our trainings, I regularly witness students reverse “incurable” diseases in a remarkably short time. I’ve seen just about every disease reversed: autoimmunity, digestive issues, cancer, anxiety/depression, and infertility. 

This simple idea has become my obsession and what lead my to create Wisdom in 2021. In 2022, we closed a round of venture funding from one of the largest venture funds in southern California.

In truth, I am not the leader of these companies because I’m good at yoga, or because I know a lot about health. It’s because I understand brand building and programmatic marketing. The open secret in the health world is that to have a career, you’ve got to be able to book clients consistently and replicable. This is the skill I wish to impart to students at The Aura Institute. When you learn to fill your schedule with new clients consistently, a thriving career inevitably awaits you.
